If you've stumbled upon this blog, chances are high that you like to cook, enjoy good food, and, in particular, are prone to swooning over good olive oil. But the world of olive oil has never been more diverse. Sure, you've been seeing the aristocratic-looking bottles from Italy and Spain on your supermarket shelf for years now. But you may also be noticing oils from other places, such as Greece, Australia, the Middle East, North Africa, and California.
Even Texas is getting in on the action.
"I Love Olive Oil" aims to introduce you, the consumer, to this exciting, ever-expanding world of olive oil. We'll be seeking out the best olive oil that small and large producers in the United States and beyond have to offer. On this blog, look for Q&As with growers, highlighted products, news, reviews, recipes, photos and much more. If you've got a great bottle of olive oil you just bought and want to share with us, take a picture and upload it to "I Love Olive Oil"'s Flickr page. Just let us know where we can buy it.
We also hope to give the producers, both big and small, a chance to keep in touch with a changing marketplace. There are legions of discerning foodies who want to find the next best thing in extra virgin olive oil. Let's help them find it.
